Energy Saving Solution by SchneiderElectric for Steel Industry Giant ArcelorMittal

1478185607_Arcelor_Mittal_Gorsel_031116Steel manufacturing giant ArcelorMittal is acquiring new earnings in energy savings by using SchneiderElectric’s ATV1200 speed controller on their dust collection system. SchneiderElectric implemented this solution in ArcelorMittal’s Fos-sur-Mer factory in France without a noticeable capital investment with the help of their collaboration with EDF Optimal Solutions, an expert on energy efficiency solutions for corporations and communities.

Being world’s leading steel manufacturer with its yearly raw steel production of 116 million tons corresponding to approximately 10 percent of all steel in world market, ArcelorMittal reached a new dimension in energy savings by using SchneiderElectric’s ATV1200 speed controller on their dust collection system.

Acquiring inconsistent results about the dust collection process in the integrated facility; comprising of one sinter facility, two blast furnaces, one steel factory, one hot rolling mill and finishing facility, ArcelorMittal initiated collaboration with SchneiderElectric for a solution that aims to acquire guaranteed results as well as reducing energy and operational costs and minimizing capital investments.

The project that is implemented in 4 stages through cooperation of EDF Optimal Solutions and SchneiderElectric that are global experts on energy management and automation; comprises a detailed energy study, true solution implementation, energy performance assessment and monitoring as well as a maintenance contract including spare part stockpile, preventative maintenance, on-site support  and remote support.

Altivar speed controller’s energy efficiency is the key element of the performance assurance contract that is signed with EDF and resulted with ArcelorMittal’s minimum capital investment. With the help of this project, an increase is acquired on equipment safety and sustainability along with the lifetime of equipments.
