Aksa Energy became the main sponsor of the Africa Regional Energy Cooperation Summit. With this sponsorship, Aksa Energy has shown that it wants to further strengthen its position on the continent. Having completed the construction of its power plants in Ghana, Madagascar and Mali in a very short time, the Company signaled that they will continue their investments in Africa The African Regional Energy Cooperation Summit, which brought together the business world and government representatives investing in energy, infrastructure and industry in Africa, started on September 26-28 in Accra, the capital of Ghana, one of the fastest developing countries on the African continent. The main sponsor of the Summit, where the steps taken in the field of energy in the African continent in the last 20 years were put on the agenda, was Aksa Energy. Following the opening speech of the Summit after the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Ghana John Peter Amewu, Aksa Energy CEO and Board Member Cüneyt Uygun informed the participants about the investments made by Aksa Energy in the African continent. Cüneyt Uygun, who stated that they support the sustainable development of the African geography with a total installed capacity of 476 MW in Ghana, Madagascar and Mali, signaled that they will continue to invest in order to create solutions to energy needs and create employment in different geographies of the world. Uygun stated that the high standards of technical support they provided in African projects, the speed of the installation stages and their ability to manage the human resources in those regions are concrete indicators of the success they have achieved in the continental countries and said: "Currently, 1 billion 100 million people in the world do not have access to electricity at all or are very limited. In Africa, a fifth of people never have access to electricity. Unless this problem is solved, it is very difficult for people to get out of poverty and improve their living standards. As Aksa Energy, we will continue our efforts to bring electricity to different African countries in urgent need of energy and to touch their lives. By continuing our investments, we will support the development of countries with energy deficits by bringing quick solutions." Cüneyt Uygun, who spoke at a panel on Ghana's energy sector held with the participation of Deputy Minister William Aidoo on the second day of the Summit, stated that they realized the development potential of the country's energy sector early and that they evaluated this as an opportunity and signed a successful power plant investment. Uygun stated that with this power plant investment, in addition to contributing to the energy diversity that is among the priorities of Ghana, they also support the acceleration of the country's economy with Aksa Energy's rapid installation capability. Aksa Energy, which started its investments in the African continent in 2015, today produces energy in 5 countries on 2 continents. Starting from the project development and design of its power plants, Aksa Energy, which carries out all of the equipment supply, engineering, construction, assembly, operation, application and maintenance stages within its own structure, provides solutions to the urgent energy needs of the countries with low-cost and fast power plant installations. The company completed the construction of the Ghana Fuel Oil Power Plant in 9 months, the construction of the Madagascar Fuel Power Plant in 7 months and the construction of the Mali Fuel Oil Power Plant in 6 months. Aksa Energy's African power plants meet the energy needs of the countries where they are located with an installed capacity of 370 MW in Ghana, 66 MW in Madagascar and 40 MW in Mali. Finally, in April, Aksa Energy signed a 5-year agreement to improve and operate a 24 MW installed power plant owned by SocieteJiroSyRanoMalagasy (Jirama), the company that handles the electricity and water works of the Republic of Madagascar. The rehabilitation works of the power plant are planned to be completed and put into operation in a short time. This agreement is a very important indicator of the Madagascar government's confidence in Aksa Energy.
