BETA Transformer Stands Out with Its R&D Projects
BETA Trafo, which has carried out important studies in the field of Turkey's transformer industry, stands out with its R&D projects. "Our aim is to reach the strongest R&D structure among transformer manufacturers and to strengthen our design team and competence. Realizing the firsts not only in Turkey but also in the world is among our biggest dreams." we had a pleasant interview with Abidin Tortum, R&D Director of Beta Transformer company.
In short, who is Abidin Bey? I am an Electrical and Electronics Engineer with 21 years of experience in the sector. I am working as the Director of Beta Transformer R&D Center. The First Things That Come to Your Mind When You Think of Beta? I can list it as Strong Structure, Design Competence, Export Rate. What are the 3 values you brag about the Beta Transformer? I can say a lot of things, but the three values I will list at the beginning are; Production Power, Export Rate, Green Environment Sensitivity. What are your dreams about Beta R&D for the company and personally Mr. Abidin's Dreams? Beta Arge and Abidin Tortum's dreams are inseparable. Our aim is to reach the strongest R&D structure among transformer manufacturers and to strengthen our design team and competence. Realizing the firsts not only in Turkey but also in the world is among our biggest dreams. 
Beta R&D Targets? Our R&D Center aims to produce products with high added value to the Transformer Electromechanical sector and the world. How is the technical staff of your R&D unit formed? We have a well-trained and experienced staff in the fields of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering. There is an interdisciplinary study in our units. Studies with National/International Institutions? ( TUBITAK etc.) Within the scope of the R&D Center, we have a total of 5 TÜBİTAK-supported projects, 2 of which are ongoing. The completed projects have been published as papers on the international platform at the academic level. In addition, with an international consortium formed, a preliminary application was made within the scope of the MANUNET EU 2019 project call. Can you tell us about your dialogue with universities and university students? In the projects made and planned to be carried out within the scope of the R&D Center, academic support is received within the scope of University-Industry cooperation with Adana Alparslan Türkeş Science and Technology University and Çukurova University. By ensuring the participation of the researchers within the R&D Center in various national and international congresses, conferences and symposiums, importance is also attached to trainings with international status. 
What Kind of Gains Does Beta R&D Provide to Employees? To take part in the structure dominated by interdisciplinary work, to take part as a researcher in projects carried out at national and international level and to increase technical knowledge as a result of project outputs. It means that losses are reduced and contain great benefits for the environment thanks to lower greenhouse gas emissions.
