Global Investment Holding's Mardin - Derik Biomass Power Plant with an installed capacity of 12 MW was put into service. The plant, which produces electricity from corn and cotton stalks, meets the electricity needs of 30 thousand houses. Global Investment Holding, which commissioned two biomass power plants with a total capacity of 17.2 MW in Aydın - Söke and Şanlıurfa - Haliliye last year, reached 29.2 MW in the production of electricity from biomass. Global Energy and Mining CEO Atay Arpacıoğulları said, "Our country has a great potential in energy production from agricultural and animal biomass. In line with our goal of becoming the leading investor of our country in the field of clean and renewable energy, our work in this field will continue." Arpacıoğulları said, "Mardin – Derik Biomass Power Plant brings idle resources to the economy. Thanks to the use of agricultural wastes remaining in the fields as raw materials, it prevents post-harvest incineration and contributes to the increase in agricultural productivity." Global Investment Holding, which is a pioneer in the investment of electricity generation from agricultural and animal biomass in Turkey, commissioned the Mardin - Derik Biomass Power Plant with an installed capacity of 12 megawatts (MW). Idle resources brought into the economy Pointing out that the Mardin - Derik Biomass Power Plant is among the biggest investments made in the region, Arpacıoğulları said, "The power plant brings idle resources to the economy. Thanks to the use of agricultural wastes remaining in the fields as raw materials, it prevents post-harvest incineration and contributes to the increase in agricultural productivity." Stating that the third biomass power plants were realized in a record time and with an exemplary team work, Arpacıoğulları said, "The capacity increase works of our Aydın - Söke power plant, which has an installed capacity of 12 MW, continue. When the works are completed, the total installed power in Aydın - Söke will increase to 24MW. Our biomass energy production will reach 41 MW." Arpacıoğulları stated that the necessary applications were made for the participation of Mardin - Derik Biomass Power Plant in the Mechanism for Supporting Renewable Energy Sources (YEKDEM) as of 2019 and said, "Thus, we foresee that our power plant will benefit from YEKDEM supports for a period of 10 years starting from January 1, 2019."
