Jean-Pascal Tricoire Appointed to the United Nations Global Executive Board

Jean-Pascal Tricoire, Chairman and CEO of Schneider Electric, has been appointed to the United Nations Global Compact Board of Directors.

Jean-Pascal Tricoire was elected President of the French Global Compact 4 years ago.

The UN Global Compact encourages companies to develop in human rights, labour, the environment and the fight against corruption.

Jean-Pascal Tricoire, Chairman and CEO of Schneider Electric, a worldwide expert in energy management and automation, has been appointed to the United Nations Global Compact Board of Directors. Tricoire's appointment was made by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. The UN Global Compact has more than 13,000 stakeholders (corporate and extracorporate) from more than 160 countries. The purpose of the contract is to make companies' strategies and policies fairer. For this, ten criteria were set in the fields of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption. Companies are expected to meet these criteria. The UN Global Compact is the world's largest agency acting in this area. The second largest organization is the French Global Compact. France has 10% of the participants in the Global Compact and the UN Global Compact. It is also the network with the highest proportion of meeting the Advanced COP level. Tricoire, who is also the President of the French Global Compact, stated the following about his new position; "4 years after becoming President of the Global Compact and 16 years after Schneider Electric joined the network, I am excited to be contributing to the development of the UN Global Compact by joining the Board of Directors. As the world's largest corporate sustainability organisation, it is an excellent organisation that, through the UN Global Compact, 10 Principles and 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, enables companies to make progress in the areas of human and labour rights, gender equality, environmental protection and ethical business practices". Paul Polman, Vice Chairman of the United Nations Global Compact and CEO of Unilever, congratulated Tricoire on his new role. Polman; "I welcome Jean-Pascal Tricoire to the UN Global Compact Executive Board. As someone who has led the promotion of sustainability through his work so far, I am confident that Jean-Pascal will make a valuable contribution to the UN Global Compact. I look forward to working together."
