Single Source Product DG1 "Contained Drive" System Increases Safety

As part of its "contained drive" package, energy management company Eaton is introducing the universal DG1 speed controller: it provides system integrators with a pre-wired, type-tested control panel with which all the components needed to power the drives are pre-installed. From terminals to control panels and even to the driver himself, all components come from Eaton's product portfolio, guaranteeing that all drive components fit together. This modular system is available in all applications from 30 kW to 630 kW and, thanks to its flexibility, can be independently adapted to the needs of customers. This reduces the costs associated with engineering, procurement, wiring, installation and testing. For customers, this means shorter delivery times and lower prices. At the same time, customers will have a tested and reliable all-in-one system. The PowerXL DG1 family of drives is designed for demanding applications in industrial applications and building services. With its user-friendliness, high short-circuit value and many integrated features, DG1 contributes to the production of safer, more efficient and more reliable machines and systems. At the same time, it reduces energy consumption by 10% compared to other drives on the market. Thanks to its blocks with integrated functions for various standard applications, this all-in-one system opens up many possibilities: It can power the ventilation system, the conveyor line or the compressor, anything is possible. The PowerXL DG1 also features a comprehensive range of features for use in pump applications: This enables the implementation of up to five multi-pump applications; Additional features include, for example, the pipe filling function, the function to control the backup pump, the automatic change between the pumps and the pressure and flow control functions. In addition to all the necessary components for the "enclosed drive" version, the PowerXL DG1 is already integrated and pre-connected within the control panel. This system relies in particular on products manufactured by Eaton: circuit breakers, automatic fuse, control transformers, DC fuses, output filters, RMQ controls, safety products, 24V power supply units, etc. This guarantees the harmonious and error-free interaction of all components. Depending on the application at hand, Eaton's SPX drives can also be used in place of PowerXL DG1 devices, for example where marine standards are required. Each modular enclosure drive control panel is installed using xEnergy switchgear system components. There are also free-standing versions of these panels. The modular design ensures a clear separation of the various functional areas from each other. Therefore, it is possible to add various other modules, whether for power supply, integration of SmartWire DT systems or for connecting the drive module to the PLC. There are also pre-designed filter modules, including high harmonic versions. These modules prevent harmonic problems and their associated effects. For example, when the power grid is used to disseminate information, extremely low harmonic filters are used in building installations. Mechanically, the control panel components fit perfectly into Eaton's switchboard, saving both time and space for installation, while providing greater flexibility. The completed units, which include the switchboard, mounting system and control panel, have been type-tested in accordance with IEC/EN 61 439 and offer a high degree of comprehensive safety.
