Eaton's new XC300 modular PLC – especially when combined with the XN300 I/O system and the XV300 touch panel – enables machine and system builders to realize aerodynamic and modern automation concepts. The fast cycle times of the modular controller, which has high performance and excellent communication characteristics, ensure a higher productivity rate for the machine. Thanks to its various interfaces, the controller is well suited as a universal and flexible data node for a wide range of applications. An integrated OPC server allows standardized data transfer in M2M (machine-to-machine) communication, thus allowing for seamless integration in the automation architecture while also creating a simple path towards Industry 4.0. The Linux-based system is programmed using CODESYS 3 and supports many widely used interfaces and field bus protocols, from CANopen, easyNet and Modbus RTU to OPC/Scada via EtherCAT, Modbus TCP, Ethernet/IP. In modular machines, networked plants and production concepts, the XC300 shows its advantages thanks to its high flexibility. The controller allows the operation of three different Ethernet networks based on different network addresses. For example, independent networks can be set up for mobile, M2M, and SCADA communication. In this way, it optimally matches the network in terms of security and performance. The controller also provides its own feed through four I/O channels. Integrated web servers support CODESYS 3 viewing and device management with HTML5 capability for the screens of smartphone and tablet devices. Installed programs and libraries provide support for all XC and XV devices, saving redevelopment time and cost. These installed programs and libraries can be quickly and easily copied onto other devices for mass production using a micro SD card or a USB stick. Eaton applies existing communication and security standards to protect equipment and systems against unauthorized access. The XC300 supports both cryptographic authentication mechanisms (TLS/IPSec) and certificate-based authorization. In conjunction with the XN300 I/O system, the XC300 controller is securely attached to the DIN rail. An XC300 can control up to 32 XN300 expansion modules. The practical installation concept and pluggable connection levels simplify installations in even the harshest areas and make pre-installation of stations possible. With the XC300, XN300 and XV300 product lines, Eaton offers engineers the opportunity to design a consistent, future-proof automation architecture that supports Industry 4.0 concepts and adds added value to its customersThe XV300 panel uses HMI visualisation with its high-resolution capacitive touchscreen, while the XC300 and XN300 remote I/O system create a compact, space-saving unit. Together with Eaton's visualisation software Galileo and the XN300 Assist software tool, CODESYS programming software, they support existing and new automation systems and enable quick and easy implementation of projects.
