Ember, an independent energy-focused think tank, has published its "Global Electricity Outlook 2021" Report. According to the report, Turkey, which has a share of 12 percent in electricity production from solar and wind, ranks 5th among the G20 countries with this success.

According to Ember's Global Electricity Outlook 2021 Report; Among renewable energy sources, Turkey has increased its share in total electricity generation in wind and solar energy from 4 percent to 12 percent (+23 TWh) in the last five years. While wind energy showed strong growth, doubling the power installed in 2019 with 1.2 GW of installed power added in 2020; In solar energy, the installed power added in 2020 decreased by 28 percent compared to 2019.

Turkey ranks 5th among G20 countries

Within the scope of the report; Turkey had a 12 percent share in electricity generation from solar and wind, with a value above the average of 9.4 percent in the 2015-2020 period. With its performance above the world average, Turkey ranks 5th among the G20 countries. In the list included in the report, Germany and the United Kingdom come first in the G20 countries.

Hybrid Power Plants for a Sustainable Future

HT Solar Energy Sales & Marketing Manager Emre Kulaç, who pointed out that for a sustainable future, in addition to existing power plants, electricity production should be focused on hybrid power plants where solar energy is integrated, said that the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources aims to reach 20 GW in solar and wind energy by 2023. In addition, pointing out that Turkey's solar energy potential is much higher and that if the necessary capacities are allocated, an installation of 2-3 GW can be realized every year, Emre Kulaç said, "HT Solar has been among the leading companies in the sector with 750 MW+ reference projects in Turkey since the day it was founded. With our new generation solar panels produced with 166 mm, 182 mm and 210 mm cells in our product portfolio, we aim to provide more panel supply to reference projects by increasing our production capacity. In this context, we believe that with our strong financial structure, quality production and high capacity, we will contribute to Turkey's 2023 target as soon as possible."
