Aksa developed CBE (Close BeforeExcitation) technology thanks to its R & D activities, enabling the generator set to be activated in 8 seconds following any power outage. Aksa’s new technology also provides uninterruptible energy to Istanbul Airport.

The company has recently developed a CBE (Close BeforeExcitation) technology that reduces the lag time of the generator from 15 seconds down to 8 seconds. CBE technology is planned to be deployed in hospitals, as well as airports, iron and steel industry, data centers and shopping centers, where the power outage tolerance may present serious risks. Aksa Power Generation also continues to provide uninterruptible energy by using CBE technology at Istanbul Airport.

“We have realized a series of works based on our long years of experience in the sector to reduce the lag time of the generator. Within the scope of our R & D activities, we were able to reduce the lag time of the generator from 15 seconds down to 8 seconds for the first time in the world. We today reached the level to realize projects which would integrate not only single but also multiple generator sets capable of synchronous supply. For example, the lag time required for 10 synchronous generators in parallel operation to tun on the supply is usually about 30-40 seconds. However, with the help of CBE technology, we now can provide solutions to our customer with the aim to reduce this time down to 8-10 seconds” said Alper Peker, the CEO of Aksa Power Generation.

AKO Battery Will Power Electric Vehicles with Boron

Within the AKO Group, AKO Battery as Turkey’s innovative power in the battery industry, is carrying out R & D studiesto produce electric vehicles’ batteries running on boron.

The project targets the production of electric vehicle batteries using boron, one of the most important underground sources. In the project carried out with the cooperation of AKO Battery R & D Center and 3 different universities, the preliminary phases under”TÜBİTAK 1003-Priority Areas R & D Projects Support Program” have been completed and the evaluations are underway as a part of thefinal approval phase.

Further to the successful conclusion of this project, which is one of the most important issues in terms of electric vehicles, Turkeywill likely obtain the benefits of global technology leadership in the production of batteries. The fact that boron, one of the most important underground treasures of our country, will be used in these batteries,will certainly uprise the Turkey’s advantage.

Charging Time of Electric Vehicles’ Batteries Will Take Less Than 10 Minutes

AKO Battery General Manager Hulki Büyük Kalender who pointed out that the leadtime for Project R&D studies was planned as 2 years, stated also the following, “In our Project, we aim to build infrastructure for new generation batteries which can be used in electric cars. It is planned to combine the super capacitors prepared based on boron derivatives with lead-acid batteries and to improve their use in hybrid vehicles. Through the contribution of super capacitors, the fast charging of the batteries will be made possible in single digit minutes only.

It can also Be Used in Aviation and Space Defense Systems

Within the scope of this R & D project of AKO Batteries, by completing the necessary technical specifications in coming days, it is planned to conduct the studies in the way that this new technology be used in the vehicles that require special and difficult conditions such as defense systems, aerospace industry systems, Red Crescent and civil defense.
