A Turk will save the world from the ice load Awards at SEDAŞ Project Idea Competition

turk_ogrenciden_dunyayi_kurtaracak_cozum_h100338_a5736Thanks to invention of a Turkish student, ice loads which may cause long-term electricity disconnections damaging energy lines in Northern Europe, China and Russia besides Turkey will be no longer a problem. When “Ice Kit Device, the project of Burhan Aslan from Kocaeli University is put into practice, it can provide million-dollar export for Turkey.

THE WINNER IS FROM KOCAELI UNIVERSITY

Providing service to 3,5 million population and 1,7 million electricity users in Kocaeli, Sakarya, Bolu and Düzce regions, SEDAŞ Project Opinion Contest was concluded, which SEDAŞ has been realizing for four years repeatedly and has become a tradition now. In the contest having 60 applications in total, 10 projects passing pre-assessment and going on to the finals were assessed by the jury composed of academics of Sakarya University, KocaeliUniversity, Bolu AbantİzzetBaysalUniversity, Düzce University, Gebze Technical University and Sakarya Applied Sciences University and SEDAŞ executives. While Burhan Arslan from Kocaeli University became the winner, Ahmet Emre Cangür and Muhammet Demirkıranfrom Düzce University take the second with the project they prepared together and Merve Karaşahin and Haluk Burak Kılıç fromAbantİzzetBaysalUniversity took the third. Honorable awards were given for 7 project not coming in the first three.

THE PROJECT OF THE WINNER WILL CE A FIRST IN THE WORLD

“Ice Kit Device” presented by Burhan Arslan from Kocaeli University who took his award from SEDAŞ Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Jan Roszka, will prevent electricity disconnections due to snow accumulated on electricity distribution lines and ice in the regions having tough winter.  Within the scope of the project being a first in the World, devices placed on energy poles will enable to clean the ice with laser technology. In case of putting this device into practice, it is expected to realize a million-dollar export.

THE SECOND PROJECT IS FROM DÜZCE, ÜÇÜNCÜ ABANT İZZET BAYSAL UNIVERSITY

Ahmet Emre Cangürand Muhammet Demirkıran from Düzce University who took the second with the project named “Increasing Efficiency of Horizontal Wind Turbine with Special Design Wind Deflection System” received their awards from SEDAŞ Distribution Director, Ersan Şentürk, PhD. and Merve Karaşahin and Haluk Burak Kılıç from AbantİzzetBaysal University who took the third with the project named “Neutral Failure and Attenuation” received their awards from SEDAŞ HR Director, Sinem Yorulmaz.

THANKS FROM SEDAŞ TO RECTORATES

Thank You Plaques were presented to the University Rectorates and academics participating in the ceremony for their contributions and support during project opinion contest by SEDAŞ Distribution Director, Ersan Şentürk, PhD. individually. The plaques were taken by Sakarya University Rector, Prof.Dr. Fatih Savaşan, Prof.Dr. Ali Öztürk on behalf of Düzce University Rectorate, Prof.Dr. Erdal Bekiroğlu on behalf of AbantİzzetBaysal University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. NuranYörükeren on behalf of Kocaeli University Rectorate and Prof.Dr. Alifuat Boz on behalf of Sakarya Applied Sciences University Rectorate.

Having a speech in award ceremony of the contest run for university students of the theme of “New technologies for the community” and motto of “May the one with the best project win”, SEDAŞ Distribution Director, Ersan Şentürk, PhD. told: “We continue to be a pioneer company of the sector as SEDAŞ with our investments and applications today as we did in the past. With this contest, we lead the way for the young having innovative projects for new Technologies for the community and provide them with an opportunity to realize their projects. I thank you very much to the esteemed academics of Sakarya University, Kocaeli University, Bolu AbantİzzetBaysal University, Düzce University, Gebze Technical University and Sakarya Applied Sciences University who were with us during this process.”

“INNOVATIVE PERSPECTIVE WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THEIR LIVES”

Stating that 60 projects joined in the contest, Ersan Şentürk, PhD. said that it was very difficult to make a choice among 10 projects going on to the finals and continues like that: “With this project, we would like for the young to think, dream and share their creative opinions with us. Developing such perspective by the young will always make a difference in their business lives in the future. We are very glad to support this as SEDAŞ. I believe wholeheartedly that all young students participating in the contest this year will be very successful in the future.”

SEDAŞ AWARDED SUCCESSFUL INNOVATIVE PROJECTS

In SEDAŞ 3. Project Opinion Contest, the winner was awarded with 7.500 TL and the second project was awarded with 5.000 TL and the third project was awarded with 4.000 TL. For 7 projects receiving honorable mention, 1000 TL for each and if it was participated as group, 1.500 TL for each was given.
