Ako Battery Will Energize Electric Vehicles with Boron


AKO Akü, which constitutes the innovative power of Turkey in the battery sector within the AKO Group, carries out R&D studies for the production of batteries that use boron for electric vehicles.

Turkey's domestically owned industrial power AKO Group is the only producer of Turkey that produces with MatrixPress (Punch) and Kaizen Tunnel production models, which are considered the peak of technology in battery production, and T.C. AKO Akü, which has the status of R&D Center approved by the Ministry of Industry and Technology, draws attention with an R&D project with a high potential to provide global advantages to our country.

The project aims to produce electric vehicle batteries using boron, one of the most important underground resources. In the project carried out in cooperation with AKO Akü R&D Center and 3 different universities, the preliminary stages within the scope of "TÜBİTAK 1003-Priority Areas R&D Projects Support Program" have been completed and the evaluations are continuing in the final approval part.

The Potential to Give Turkey a Global Advantage

With the successful conclusion of this project, Turkey will gain the advantage of global technology leadership in battery production, which is one of the most important issues in terms of electric cars. The fact that Boron, which is shown as one of the most important underground riches of our country, will be used in these batteries will further increase this advantage of Turkey.

The charging time of electric vehicle batteries will be reduced to less than 10 minutes.

Stating that the R&D studies of the project are planned to last for 2 years, AKO Akü General Manager Hulki Büyük kalender said, "In our project, we aim to create an infrastructure for new generation batteries that can be used in electric cars. It is aimed to combine supercapacitors prepared with boron-derived compound additives with lead batteries and to develop their use in hybrid electric vehicles. With the contribution of supercapacitors to be prepared, the batteries will be able to charge fast in single digit minutes."

It can also be used in Aerospace Defense Systems

Within the scope of this R&D project of AKO Akü, it is planned to advance the studies that can be used in vehicles that require use in special and difficult conditions such as defense systems, aerospace industry systems, Kızılay and civil defense with the completion of the necessary technical specifications in the future.
