AKO Battery Will Power Electric Vehicles with Boron


Within the AKO Group, AKO Battery as Turkey’s innovative power in the battery industry, is carrying out R & D studies to produce electric vehicles’ batteries running on boron.

The project targets the production of electric vehicle batteries using boron, one of the most important underground sources. In the project carried out with the cooperation of AKO Battery R & D Center and 3 different universities, the preliminary phases under”TÜBİTAK 1003-Priority Areas R & D Projects Support Program” have been completed and the evaluations are underway as a part of thefinal approval phase.

Charging Time of Electric Vehicles’ Batteries Will Take Less Than 10 Minutes

1557901860_HulkiBuyukkalender2_AKO Battery General Manager Hulki Büyük Kalender who pointed out that the leadtime for Project R&D studies was planned as 2 years, stated also the following, “In our Project, we aim to build infrastructure for new generation batteries which can be used in electric cars. It is planned to combine the super capacitors prepared based on boron derivatives with lead-acid batteries and to improve their use in hybrid vehicles.Through the contribution of super capacitors, the fast charging of the batteries will be made possible in single digit minutes only.

It can also Be Used in Aviation and Space Defense Systems

Within the scope of this R & D project of AKO Batteries, by completing the necessary technical specifications in coming days, it is planned to conduct the studies in the way that this new technology be used in the vehicles that require special and difficult conditions such as defense systems, aerospace industry systems, Red Crescent and civil defense.
