Schneider Electric, the world leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation; He signed a cooperation agreement with FullCharger, the founder and first company of the electric vehicle charging industry in Turkey, for the installation of electric vehicle charging stations in Turkey.

An important step for the future of e-Mobility in Turkey

Within the scope of the cooperation implemented for the installation of electric vehicle charging stations in Turkey, the “EcoStruxure for eMobility” solution developed by Schneider Electric to provide a safe, continuous and efficient energy infrastructure for electric vehicles will be used.

Noting that this cooperation agreement, which is of great importance for the establishment of the electric vehicle charging station network in Turkey, is also a very valuable step for the e-Mobility future of our country, Schneider Electric Turkey General Manager İsmail Yamangil said:

“The operation of innovative new technology solutions, including the growing number of electric cars, depends on energy sources and energy technologies. As Schneider Electric, a company with 185 years of experience in more than 100 countries, we continue our operations with strong goals to lead this field.” said.

Consumer demands shorter charging time

Answering the questions of the press members at the meeting, Schneider Electric Turkey Deputy General Manager of Channel Management Gökhan İşbitiren shared the following information: “As Schneider Electric, we focus on E-mobility and Charging Stations as important topics.

With its experience, competitive power and geostrategic position in Turkey’s automotive industry, it has an attractive position in electric vehicle and related equipment investments. With Turkey’s experience in this field, it offers important opportunities for the manufacture of electric vehicles and related sub-industry products.

The pleasing and rapid development of electric cars will of course urgently raise different needs in the field. Among these, charging stations stand out. Of course, the problem is not just setting up a widespread station network.

According to consumer research, consumers expect charging times of under 30 minutes while traveling. On the other hand, the time spent in the vast majority of charging stations serving today exceeds 3 hours. With this cooperation, we will work to meet the charging station needs of the consumers for their electric vehicles.”

Turkey has the potential to set an example in the world”

Making an evaluation after the signing ceremony, FullCharger Deputy Chairman of the Board Begüm Dermancıoğlu expressed her satisfaction with the Schneider Electric cooperation; “Turkey has the potential to be one of the exemplary countries in the world regarding charging stations in the next 1-year period.

Our country will be built with a fast charging network from south to north and east to west by licensed and certified charging network operators. Buildings will continue to focus on meeting renewable energy and e-mobility infrastructure through legislation and regulations. As FullCharger, we look at the issue holistically within the framework of energy transformation.

By integrity we mean; To be able to manage the setup of a building to produce, store and consume its own energy independently of the grid. These steps are of great importance for the future of Turkey and the world.

We will have charging stations that produce their own energy”

Pointing out that the statement that electric vehicles will be the future of the automobile is no longer a guess but a concrete data, Dermancıoğlu said, “The decisions of automobile brands to shift all their production to this area, the rapid renewal of public vehicles in this way, tax advantages and environmental obligations have made electric vehicles an inevitable option.

As of 2025, the production of automobiles other than electric vehicles in the world will decrease substantially. As a result, the potential impact of the charging station industry on the automotive industry has increased as well as its size. Our sector, which will have a decisive influence on consumer preferences, will affect the competition in the automotive market and accelerate the transition to electric vehicles with the support of the government.

e-Mobility in the World and Turkey in Numbers

The global electric vehicle and hybrid market has grown at a high rate of 43% even in 2020, which was under the effect of the pandemic. In the same period, the market in the internal combustion engine segment in the world shrank by 18.5%.

It is estimated that one out of every two vehicles sold in the world by 2030 will be electric. According to projections from the International Energy Agency (IEA), the global electric passenger car park will reach 125 million by 2030. This volume increase was 17.5% in sales; on the other hand, it indicates a 7.5% share in the stock. The projected electric vehicle market share for 2025 is 16%, and the estimated share of electric vehicles in the European vehicle market in 2035 is 95%. As the eMobility ecosystem evolves, its global value is estimated to reach over $1 trillion by 2030. While the number of electric vehicles in Turkey was 34 thousand in 2021, this number is expected to reach 69 thousand in 2023, 2.4 million in 2030 and 17 million in 2040. In Turkey, the share of electric vehicles in the total number will reach 0.3 in 2023; this ratio is projected to reach 8% in 2030 and 38% in 2040.

It is estimated that the number of electric vehicle charging units (charging network operators and special units) in Turkey will reach 54 thousand in 2023, 1.1 million in 2030 and 4.8 million in 2040. As for the total superstructure and infrastructure equipment investment; It is expected to be realized as 468.4 million Euros in 2023, 9.2 billion Euros in 2030 and 72.3 billion Euros in 2040.
