Nandita Parshad, Director of the Sustainable Infrastructure Group at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, said, "We anticipate that our investments in the Turkish energy sector will continue as both financing and capital investments. This year, as in previous years, we plan to keep our investment volume at the level of 250 million euros." Nandita Parshad, Director of the Sustainable Infrastructure Group at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), reported that they plan to invest 250m euros in Turkey's energy sector this year. In a statement, Parshad said that since they started operating in Turkey, their investment in the sector has reached 1.6 billion euros.Reminding that their first investment in the sector this year was their $100 million partnership with İçtaş Sustainable Energy Investments, Parshad said, "The company, which currently has 10 hydroelectric power plants with a capacity of 400 megawatts, is planned to invest up to approximately 250 megawatts of wind and solar energy with the partnership of the EBRD. Such capital investments are a very good way to ensure the growth of renewable energy capacity in Turkey." Parshad said that such investments enable private sector players to be more involved in electricity production, increase competition, which will lead to a decrease in electricity prices. Stating that they are active in the Turkish energy sector as well as financing as well as capital investment, Parshad said: "We are currently working on many different projects for new investments. I can't give details as these talks are still in the beginning stages, but we are focused on the renewable energy sector and we will continue to grow the sector in different ways. We anticipate that our investments in the Turkish energy sector will continue as both financing and capital investments. This year, as in previous years, we plan to keep our investment volume at the level of 250 million euros. Depending on the investment environment and the work we do, this figure may change."   WE ARE INTERESTED IN ELECTRICITY DISTRIBUTION Underlining that the continuation of the Mechanism for Supporting Renewable Energy Sources is very important for the continuation of renewable energy investments in Turkey, Parshad stated that all investors, including the EBRD, should be informed about the decisions to be taken in this regard. Parshad said that they have shared their views with the public on what kind of support mechanism can be used after 2020 and that they are waiting for the new mechanism that will mobilize investments in the sector. Expressing that they are interested in the distribution business as well as electricity production in Turkey, Parshad said, "We care about the energy reaching more consumers and the integration of renewable energy sources into the network. In addition, we want to support the spread of energy efficiency in Turkey, especially in public buildings. In this context, we think that it can be started from primary schools."
