Turkey Electricity Transmission Inc. Announced Capacity Planning of 10 Years

Turkey Electricity Transmission Inc. (TETI) announced the capacity values of electricity that will be connected to electricity transmission system of Turkey in next 5 and 10 years period.

According to the calculations in the 5 and 10-Year (2024-2029) Regional Connectable Capacity Report published by TETI, a total of 27,271 Mw regional capacity will be provided in 9 out of 15 transmission regions including 20,818 Mw by the end of 2024 and 6.453 Mw by the end of 2029.

In 58 regional provinces where regional capacities are not formed, for some possible production investments such as small generation investments, production facilities within OIZs, small capacity increases, a total capacity of 2,900 Mw will be provided for 50 Mw for each city in 2019-2024.


Maximum capacity will be provided to Istanbul and its surroundings

20.818 Mw of the regional capacities will be provided between 2020 and 2024, while 6.453 Mw will be provided between 2024-2029. Turkey will be separated into 15 regions of transmission of electricity to be provided within the first five years, according to a report prepared by separating capacity of 10 059 Mw, part of Istanbul, Tekirdağ, Kırklareli and Edirne, which takes place in the first region to be allocated. For the third region where Ankara, Eskişehir, Bilecik, Sakarya, Kocaeli, Düzce and Bolu are located, 4.997 MW capacity will be allocated.


Current Capacity is over 90 Gw

In report, estimated electricity production capacity for installed power is 111.710 mw for 2024 and 127.754 Mw for 2029. At the end of last month, the electricity production capacity of Turkey had reached 90420.9 Mw.
