Electricity production started in Akfen, Van solar power plants
Aiming to reach a power generation plant capacity of 1000 MW consisting of domestic and renewable resources by 2020, Akfen Renewable Energy continues its investments without interruption. Akfen's two licensed solar power plants with a total power of 20 MW in Van Edremit have started energy production.  With the commissioning of Akfen Renewable Energy's third licensed solar power plant, which will be built in the same region next year, Van, one of the provinces with the highest sunshine duration in Turkey, will have a 30 MW solar power plant. The three power plants will meet the energy needs of 120 thousand people.  After receiving Turkey's largest solar and wind energy loan , Akfen Renewable Energy accelerated the construction of 13 domestic power plants with a power of 327 MW in 5 regions and is realizing its investments worth $ 530 million consecutively. Two of the licensed solar projects of Akfen Renewable Energy, which has become an important player in the domestic and renewable energy plants needed by Turkey with the investment breakthrough in recent years , have started to produce electricity in Van. The Omicron Erciş and Omicron Engil power plants in Van Edremit province, which were consecutively accepted at the end of September, have a total power of 20 megawatts. The power plants will meet the energy needs of 80 thousand people by delivering the energy produced to all of Turkey through the national electricity network. PSI Engil, the third power plant of the licensed project with a power of 10 MW, which will be started by Akfen Renewable Energy in Van, will be commissioned next year. THEY'RE LINING UP RIGHT NEXT TO LAKE VAN The 3 power plants to be operated in Van, one of the provinces with the highest solar energy potential in Turkey, are located on a total of 600 acres of land next to Lake Van. The plants, which are expected to produce 60 GWh of electricity annually, will prevent the emission of 25 thousand 804 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent greenhouse gases. Thanks to the solar power plants that will cost approximately 66 million dollars , Van will gain a significant economic value, while the annual energy needs of 120 thousand people will be met entirely from domestic and renewable sources. With the realization of 3 power plants by Akfen Renewable Energy, Van will start to host its first power plant investments despite having a serious potential in terms of solar energy source.
