DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION ACCELERATES IN FACTORIES WITH THE PANDEMIC

In the pandemic process we are in, we have felt much more deeply that digital transformation is mandatory in all areas of life, especially in production. Tolga Bizel, Turkey Manager of CLPA, a Japan-based organization operating in the field of industrial communication, emphasized that digitalization, which is understood to be lacking especially in factories, will gain great speed in the coming period with the Covid-19 outbreak. Pointing out that enterprises that have infrastructure compatible with Industry 4.0 and carry out digitalization in their production processes before the coronavirus continue their activities without slowing down in this process, Bizel said that enterprises that do not invest in digital transformation may face the danger of disappearing in the coming period. Stating that Turkey, which has a high production capability, has a great potential in the robotic automation sector, Bizel stated that industrial communication is of great importance for the fast and reliable management of communication data in smart factories where machines can communicate with each other. Bizel underlined that CC-Link IE TSN, which stands out as the world's first industrial open network that comes into play at this point and benefits from Time Sensitive Network technology, offers competitiveness to industrialists.

Fast and secure communication is crucial in smart and digital factoriesWith the coronavirus outbreak, the digitalization process has gained speed. Stating that we feel much more deeply in this process that digital transformation has become mandatory in all areas of life, especially in production, CLPA (CC-Link Partner Association) Turkey Manager Tolga Bizel stated that institutions that invest in digitalization and easily adapt to innovations will be in an advantageous position in the coming period.

Emphasizing that institutions that distance themselves from digital transformation may face the danger of extinction, Bizel said, "A new world order awaits us in every sense after the coronavirus outbreak seen all over the world and in our country. In this process we are experiencing, we see that institutions that adopt digital transformation continue their activities without slowing down. Enterprises that have an infrastructure compatible with Industry 4.0 and have realized digitalization in their production processes before the pandemic continue to produce by managing their factories efficiently with remote access and minimizing risk. In addition to large enterprises that have not yet adapted to digital transformation, especially SMEs need to take more careful and correct steps in this process. Investments in digital transformation will positively affect not only the producer but also our country's economy. Depending on the transformation in the following period; We can say that the concepts of Industry 4.0, artificial intelligence, industrial internet of things, smart factory, digital twin and cyber security will be on the agenda much more."

Digitalization is a must for Turkey's competition in global markets

"When we look at the future visions of the powers that have a say in the world economy; We see that they are countries that have mastered science and technology, that can produce new technologies and use them consciously, and that they have gained the ability to transform technological developments into social and economic benefits," Tolga Bizel said, therefore underlining that investments will be mainly on robots, machines and open networks that provide uninterrupted communication between all these systems. Stating that Turkey, which has a high production capability, has a great potential in global markets, Bizel said; "In order for this production capability to be sustainable, it is necessary to be competitive, and for competition it is necessary to reduce costs while increasing production quality. Achieving this can only be possible through digital transformation."

Fast and secure communication is crucial in smart and digital factories

Stating that one of the most important elements in the Industry 4.0 process is the collection, sharing and processing of big data, Tolga Bizel said, "In smart factories, all machines and systems on the production line, including robots, need to communicate with each other very quickly. In smart factories where machines can communicate with each other, it is extremely important to manage communication data reliably. In digital factories, a lot of data is generated in real time by a large number of devices and shared to provide transparent viewing of processes. The bandwidth of industrial communication systems is of great importance in the success of this process. CC-Link IE TSN, which came into play at this point as CLPA's newest technology, stands out as the world's first industrial open network to benefit from Time Sensitive Network (TSN) technology. Thanks to this new generation technology, which is up to 10 times faster than industrial communication systems that can communicate with 100 megabits per second, it is greatly easier to fulfill the requirements of Industry 4.0 and the competitiveness of industrialists increases."
