Speaking at the award ceremony, Deputy Minister of Trade Rıza Tuna Turagay said, "We closed 2021 with exports of 225.4 million dollars. We continued to break records after records."
The Electrical and Electronics Exporters' Association (TET), which is the only representative of the electrical-electronics sector in our country, which closed last year with an increase of 28 percent with exports of 14.4 billion dollars, rewarded its successful exporters. A total of 15 awards were given in 5 different categories and Deputy Minister of Trade Rıza Tuna Turagay and Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) President İsmail Gülle participated. The top three in the "Electricity and Electronics Sector in Turkey" category were listed as follows; Vestel Ticaret A.S., Arçelik A.Ş. and BSH Ev Aletleri San.ve Tic. A.Ş.
"WE ARE TRYING TO PROVIDE ALL KINDS OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR EXPORTERS"
Deputy Minister of Trade Rıza Tuna Turagay, stating that 2021 was closed with exports of 225.4 million dollars, said: "We continued to break records above records. In January, we exported 17.6 billion dollars. Turkey has started to become an important supplier in the post-pandemic period. In most sectors, we try to grow products. Today, our exports continue to increase.
We have increased our exports to America both in general and in terms of electrical and electronic products. It's all your success. We do not want to leave our exporters alone. We are trying to provide all kinds of opportunities for them. We support projects, buyer delegations and fairs.
If we have deficiencies, we will eliminate them all together. Our exporters have shown how they work even in difficult times. These are a huge achievement. This success will continue in 2022. R&D and the number of patents are very important. We need to work on those. I congratulate all companies that contribute to exports."
Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) President İsmail Gülle stated that the electrical-electronics sector is one of the sectors where R&D and innovation are most needed in the world today, and said, "In the last 50 years, this sector has pioneered technological advances in the world. It is very important to leave a mark on the sector instead of following in someone else's footsteps. On the one hand, let's work on how to export more cables, and on the other hand, let's carry out R & D activities to transmit energy wirelessly. While developing the world's white goods that work with the least electricity and the least water, let's direct technology by adding innovation to our production. As TIM, we are ready for this change. We have laid the foundations of the projects that will form the infrastructure of this."
TET President Güven Uçkan stated that they represent the sub-sectors of white goods, electronics, cables and electricity generation and distribution equipment as a union, that they have over 7 thousand active members and that the number of members who have regular exports every month is over 500.
Uçkan stated that the 3 companies that realized the most exports realized 36 percent of the sector's exports in 2021, and the 142 companies on the honor list prepared by the union every year and exporting 10 million dollars or more this year represented 2 percent of the number of active members, while 76 percent of the sector's exports were realized.
Güven Uçkan said:
"Although the vast majority of our exports are to the EU, when we look at our share in EU imports, it is clear that our share is very small, that none of our sectors are indispensable and that there is still a long way to go. We should be able to use export-oriented government supports efficiently and at rates that will affect the result.
In the current situation, the fact that the supports are coordinated under too many headings and by different institutions prevents the efficient use of public resources. We think that an infrastructure should be provided where corporate companies with a certain economic size and assurance can produce and export without being overwhelmed by bureaucracy.
While the transformation of traditional and medium-tech products into more value-added products is ensured by branding, we desire that the high-tech support carried out by our Ministry of Trade be regulated and put back into practice in order to increase the export share of high-tech products, which is only 3 percent."
