With the incentives made in the field of renewable energy, the geothermal installed power in Turkey has increased. As of the end of November, a record was broken with 4224 MW of installed power added to the system from renewable energy sources. 128 MW of the total installed power generation commissioned consisted of geothermal power plants, which are also referred to as endless energy sources.
Renewable Energy Research Association – YENADER, which stated that the use of geothermal energy, which is a sustainable energy source instead of using the limited resources in our world, contributes to the country's economy by closing the current account deficit as well as leaving a green world to future generations, made important statements.
Turkey continues to take measures to combat the global climate. In our country, while the studies carried out in the field of domestic and renewable energy have increased recently, the electric power obtained with the new power plant investments is reaching record levels. It is stated that a record has been broken with 4224 MW of installed power added to the system from renewable energy sources as of the end of November alone . 128 MW of the total installed power put into operation consists of geothermal power plants, which are also known as infinite energy sources.
INSTALLED CAPACITY IS EXPECTED TO EXCEED 50 GW IN 2021
The incentives provided in the field of renewable energy do not prevent investments despite the coronavirus outbreak. With the investments made in the field of renewable energy, which is characterized as a domestic and clean energy source instead of the use of imported energy, the total renewable energy installed capacity in our country is expected to exceed 50 GW in the first half of 2021 from 48,500 MW.
RENEWABLE ENERGY INVESTMENTS CLOSE THE CURRENT ACCOUNT DEFICIT
Stating that the studies carried out in the field of renewable energy contribute to the country's economy as well as combating the global climate, Renewable Energy Research Association – YENADER President Prof. Dr. Kerem Alkin; " Renewable energy, which offers an eco-friendly, clean and sustainable living option, is one of the issues that countries address as a priority in the emergency action plan. Production from renewable energy sources, which is also emphasized in detail within the scope of the Energy Efficiency Strategic Plan covering the years 2012-2023 in our country, constitutes a pillar of economic development while offering a clean future. Especially renewable energy production makes a great contribution to the decrease in the rate of energy used and imported in our country. In July 2020, imports in Turkey, excluding energy products and non-monetary gold, decreased by 10.5% from 14 billion 910 million dollars to 13 billion 348 million dollars. The fact that import rates are decreasing day by day has a direct impact on the current account deficit and helps economic growth."
GROWTH IS ACHIEVED WITH INCENTIVES
Stating that the incentives and supports offered have enabled the use of renewable energy to increase, Prof. Dr. Kerem Alkin; "Renewable energy capacity around the world has achieved record growth, up 15% compared to the same period last year. One of the most important actors of this growth is Turkey. In Turkey, which has moved to the top of the world ranking, the incentives offered within the scope of the Mechanism for Supporting Renewable Energy Sources (YEKDEM) ensure that the investments made increase day by day."
WE ARE AMONG THE TOP FIVE COUNTRIES IN
THE WORLD IN GEOTHERMAL ENERGY PRODUCTION
On the other hand, Turkey's total renewable energy generation capacity was 17 thousand 369 MW in 2010, while it reached 48,500 MW this year, breaking a record, Renewable Energy Research Association – YENADER Vice President Ali Karaduman said; "With our record installed power in renewable energy production, we are among the few countries in the world. Especially with geothermal energy production, which is an endless and clean energy source, Turkey is among the top five countries in the world ranking. Geothermal energy, which produces electricity 24x7 regardless of weather conditions, is a type of energy that can be used as long as the world exists. For this reason, instead of using the limited resources in our world, geothermal energy, which is a sustainable energy source, should be preferred. Geothermal energy obtained by the heating of groundwater has been used in the world since the oldest civilizations. Geothermal, which was also used as a thermal pool and bath in Italy during the Roman period, still protects our world and living spaces with many benefits today."
