"Every step that supports the success we have achieved in solar energy is very important"
GENSED President Halil Demirdağ, stating that Turkey has made significant strides in the field of solar energy, said, "We find every step taken in the name of sustainability very important."Demirdağ also stated that EMRA's latest decision on monthly offsetting was positively received in the sector. The Energy Market Regulatory Authority's (EMRA) recent regulation on unlicensed electricity generation has been welcomed in the solar energy sector. Halil Demirdağ, President of the Solar Energy Industrialists' and Industry's Association (GENSED), emphasized that such practices will pave the way for the sector, "We must make the great success we have achieved in a short time in solar energy sustainable. We find every step taken in this direction very important." Demirdağ, who is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Smart Energy as well as GENSED, said, "Although the fact that our installed power exceeds 5 thousand MW thanks to investments for a sector that started from scratch is an important success, we are at the very beginning of the work. We have to accept that we have a long way to go", while evaluating the new regulation published in the Official Gazette of EMRA and entered into force as follows: "As a sector, we have been waiting for regulations that will pave the way for unlicensed applications for self-consumption for a while. We hope that with the introduction of monthly offsetting with the New Unlicensed Regulation that came into force last month and the publication of the tariffs related to offsetting last week, the movement in roof applications for self-consumption will begin. The decision of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority for unlicensed electricity generation investments is very important for us. In this context; As sector representatives, we welcomed this latest decision, which determines the distribution fees to be applied to investors. According to the regulation, a 50 percent discount will be applied from its own consumer distribution tariff for production against consumption within the scope of offset, its own consumer distribution tariff for the part where consumption is high after offset, and a 100 percent discount from its own consumer distribution tariff for 10 years for the surplus production after offset. We believe that such incentives will further grow the sector. We consider every step that supports our success in solar energy and unlocks our potential very important." In this context, Demirdağ stated that another important issue that concerns all existing and potential solar investors has become clear: "According to the phrase within the scope of 5.1.ç of the new unlicensed regulation; All applications, including dwellings, commercial houses and industrial facilities, will be able to be installed on the land provided that production and consumption are at the same measurement point and will be evaluated within the scope of monthly offset. In the next step, a legal entity that installs a GES in any region has the right to consume this electricity in another region; should be the next target of the sector. With bilateral contracts and a guarantee of purchase at market price, solar energy will develop rapidly towards becoming one of our largest sources of domestic production." Demirdağ stated that Turkey will achieve much greater gains with the implementation of legal regulations that will increase the share of solar in total electricity production, and completed his words as follows: "As explained by our Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Mr. Fatih Dönmez, every 1000 MW of GES prevents natural gas imports of 110 million dollars. We have tremendous potential in solar energy. In Turkey, which is a lucky country in favor of the sun, dwellings, workplaces, public institutions, factories and even all municipalities should produce their own electricity and sell the surplus to the state. With the GESs to be installed on rooftops and land, Turkey should turn to the sun and produce its energy from this infinite source wherever it sees the sun in the sky."
