Can you briefly talk about yourself?
After graduating from Istanbul Technical University Electrical Engineering in 1997 and then completing my national duty, I received an MBA on International Marketing at the University of Leicester in London between 1999 and 2005. Then I returned to Turkey and started to work as a Product Manager in the Prysmian family, Pirelli Kablo, as it was called at that time. While continuing my duty in different positions in marketing and sales departments, I simultaneously completed my master's degree on Financial Economics at Istanbul Bilgi University in 2011; I completed leadership training at Bocconi University of Milan in 2015. Today, I am still in the position of Marketing and Business Development Director, to which I was appointed in 2014.
At the same time, I am the Chairman of the Technical Committee at KABLODER, the association of the Turkish cable industry, and I am actively involved in associations such as IMSAD and ETMD, which are closely related to our sector.
Can you give information about the CableApp application?
CableApp application developed by Prysmian Group has been adapted to Turkish to be suitable for use in Turkey in line with the increasing needs and demands in Turkey. Both over the web and through our mobile application working on smartphones, we enable cable section calculations to be made much easier and in a shorter time.
TS HD 60364-5-52 "Electrical installation in buildings - Part 5-52: Selection and installation of electrical equipment - Drawn line systems (conductors)" In order to facilitate the application of the standard in the field, as Türk Prysmian Kablo, we have introduced "CableApp" to its users. With this application, we aim to increase the number of conscious users in the sector and to save the users from project design and application time.
Does CableApp have any precedents? If there are precedents, how is it different from its peers?
Yes, CableApp has precedents around the world. But there are some features that make CableApp different and stand out from the rest.
Thanks to the CableApp mobile app, which works both online and in accordance with mobile operating systems, industry professionals can easily select the cable that suits their needs. With this application, they can easily and quickly make cable cross-section calculations, and contribute to sustainability by seeing how much energy they can save according to cable selection and CO2 emission gain.
If we open it up a little more, our app has a few features that I want to mention in particular. First of all, it has a very easy to use, visually supported interface. Also, with CableApp it is possible to access all the technical information of the product. As far as we know, this feature has no precedent. While many applications usually calculate according to a single feature, with CableApp, it can be done simultaneously according to current carrying capacity, voltage drop and short-circuit current. You can also see the calculation results with alternative options for both energy savings andCO2 emission savings. And you can save the results and share them as PDFs with anyone you want.
What kind of convenience does the CableApp application provide to the users, what are the advantages?
CableApp helps you configure your electrical wiring with the most suitable cable type first. In this application, which has a user-friendly interface, it is possible to make a simple and detailed calculation for a suitable section by selecting cables "According to Mounting Type" or "According to Specifications".The application offers only the desired parameters, putting an end to the clutter of trading and allowing you to make your transaction easily. In the result, you can view the most suitable and alternative cable sections, how much energy you will save if the upper sections are selected, your CO2 emission gain and even the section value suitable for the voltage drop. In addition, you can obtain the results of the cable section calculation you have made through our web page or you can save it to your mobile device and share it with the person / people you want. With all these advantages, the CableApp application helps all users, from the assembly element in the field to the engineers in the office, to choose the best cabling solution in accordance with the project and installation method.
How can the app be supplied?
Our CableApp can be accessed from https://www.cableapp.com or www.prysmiangroup.com.tr addresses. You can also download and use it for free on your mobile devices from the AppleStore or GooglePlay.
Can you tell us about the development process of the CableApp application?
Prysmian Group, which operates in the energy and telecommunication cables sector, has strengthened its leadership in the sector after the merger with General Cable in the first half of 2018. The company, which currently addresses a significant part of the cable sector all over the world, always reveals its difference with its first company in the sector, its leadership and the special works it carries out. This difference brings with it the responsibility of developing the sector.
We are much more than a cable manufacturing company. That's why we contribute to the improvement of product quality and safety in the industry with our digital applications, online training programs and training initiatives that include firsts in the cable industry. With this mission, the 18th version of CableApp, which has been developed by Prysmian Group and has been on the air for several years and first made available in Spain and the Netherlands, has met its users in recent months. The application, which is constantly updated and renewed according to the needs of the sector and new regulations, met its users in Turkey in Turkish as of November 1, 2019.
What are the factors that made your decision to develop the program?
CableApp app; It was developed in order to facilitate the implementation of the TS HD 60364-5-52 standard used for applications in the field, to save project design and application times and to increase the number of conscious users in the sector. When we consider the increasing needs and demands in our rapidly developing sector in parallel with technology, our mobile application will provide both convenience and time saving in choosing the right cable.
Is CableApp your only app in the industry, or do you have different apps?
As Türk Prysmian Kablo, we carry out projects to change the perception of cables in the Turkish cable sector and to instill awareness of the use of quality cables. "Attention! Not Every Cable Is The Same..." initiative, we have revealed the perspective of our company. When launching this initiative, we considered it a duty to increase the security awareness in the sector and to break down the perception of "Every Cable is the Same".
In parallel with these efforts, on July 1, 2017, cable manufacturers became legally obligatory; We continue to work on CPR (Building Materials Regulation), which aims to make not only cables but also all building materials reliable against fire. In this context, we offer safe solutions against fire with AFUMEX™ cables produced in our R&D center in Mudanya.
In addition to these efforts, we introduced Online Cable Training to our sector in 2015. The number of our participants, which has reached 2000 people and even passed as of today, is increasing day by day. As Türk Prysmian Kablo, we aim to reach wider masses with the training, which is a first in the sector and which we offer free of charge. Online Cable Training consists of 8 modules and an exam: basic information about cables, application areas of cables, material technologies, general cable structure, fire performance tests, cable and roller use, Construction Materials Regulation (CPR) and fiber optic cables. Participants who succeed in the exam are entitled to receive a certificate of participation after the training. Anyone can join at any time at www.prysmiangroup.com.tr free of charge.
