Türkiye Elektrik İletişim A.Ş., which will be able to provide a capacity of more than 30 GW excluding rooftop GES investments until the end of 2029, Turkey has published the capacity figures that can be connected to the electricity transmission system in the next five and ten years. According to the calculations in the 5 and 10 Annual (2024-2029) Regional Connectable Capacity Report published by TEİAŞ, a total of 27,271 MW of regional capacity will be provided in 9 of the 15 transmission zones, including 20,818 MW by the end of 2024 and 6,453 MW by the end of 2029. In the 58 regional provinces where regional capacities are not formed, a total of 2,900 MW of capacity can be provided, 50 MW on a provincial basis, for 2019-2024 for some possible production investments such as small production investments, production facilities within OIZ, and small amount of capacity increases. However, applications for roof type GES investments will be outside the capacities described in the report.
The maximum capacity will be provided to Istanbul and its surroundings Of the regional capacities, 20,818 MW will be available between 2020 and 2024, and 6,453 MW will be available between 2024 and 2029. According to the report, which is prepared by dividing Turkey into 15 separate electricity transmission regions, 10,059 MW of the capacity to be provided in the first five years will be allocated in the first region where Istanbul, Tekirdağ, Kırklareli and Edirne are located. For the third region, which includes Ankara, Eskişehir, Bilecik, Sakarya, Kocaeli, Düzce and Bolu, a capacity allocation of 4,997 MW will be realized.
Current capacity is over 90 GW In the report, the installed power forecast for Turkey's electricity generation capacity was 111,710 MW for 2024 and 127,754 MW for 2029. Turkey's electricity generation capacity reached 90,420.9 MW at the end of last month.
