

IstanbulLight, which was held on 18-21 September 2019 at the Istanbul Expo Center, will be held at the 12. International Lighting & Electrical Materials Exhibition and Congress; It brought together 7,757 visitors from 77 countries, 969 of whom were foreigners, and 220 exhibitors for new business opportunities.

IstanbulLight, Turkey's only international lighting fair where 220 exhibiting companies took part with hundreds of brands, brought together the public and manufacturers, investors and designers from all over the world. The Fair, which was organized by Informa Markets with the strategic partnership of the Lighting Equipment Manufacturers Association (AGİD) and the Turkish National Committee for Lighting (ATMK), was visited by a total of 7 thousand 757 people, 969 of whom were foreigners, from 77 countries in 4 days. The fact that the total visitor rate of the fair increased by 24% and the rate of export customers increased by 14% made it a productive fair for the participants.

At the fair, which hosted 969 foreign visitors, the top 5 countries with the highest concentration of visitors were Morocco, Algeria, Bulgaria, Libya and Tunisia respectively. IstanbulLight, which has achieved 12% growth on a square meter basis, will be held every 2 years based on the dynamics of the sector and will bring the global lighting sector together under the same roof for the 13th time in 2021.

We have reached more visitors than we targeted.

Atilla Marangozoğlu, General Manager of Informa Markets, stated that IstanbulLight has been very successful and has brought the lighting sector, which aims to reach 2 billion dollars of production and 500 million dollars of export figures in 2019, together with international markets, and said, "We are pleased that our exhibitor companies and professional visitors have signed very important collaborations at IstanbulLight both national and international levels. Stating that Turkey is progressing in its goal of becoming a world production base in lighting, OSCE President Fahir Gök said, "There are 4 thousand 750 companies in our lighting sector and it provides employment for over 25 thousand people. As OSCE, when we evaluate the developments in the first half of 2019 and the expectations ahead, we estimate that we will complete 2019 with a growth of 3 percent. IstanbulLight, the most important meeting of our lighting sector, was very successful for both our exhibitors and visitors. Together with commercial opportunities, we have brought many issues such as technologies that will pave the way for our sector, qualified and smart lighting, LED technologies, energy efficiency, value-added production to the agenda."

In this period when the sector needs togetherness and finding the right and way out the most, ATMK President Prof. Dr. Dr. Sermin Onaygil stated that the sector, which has shown a good development in the international dimension especially in the field of luminaire production after the 1990s, has to follow the changes and innovations very well, and that it is essential to turn to exports and open up to foreign markets in order to continue on its way without being affected by the economic problems experienced, the contractions in the construction sector and public projects. Onaygil added that the lighting fixture manufacturing industry, which exports significant amounts, offers significant opportunities for foreign capital investments with its infrastructure and market opportunities, and that the exhibition, where the present and future of the sector is discussed, is taking decisive steps towards becoming the only international lighting exhibition in the region.
Public and Private Sector met on the Trade Stage on the common denominator of energy efficiency.
Public and Lighting Sector came together at IstanbulLight Fair to discuss their opportunities and expectations on energy efficiency. IstanbulLight, in the session titled 'Energy Efficiency in Lighting' held at Ticaret Sahnesi, T.C. Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and T.R. A message of support was given to the 'Lighting Sector' by the Ministry of Industry and Technology. Oğuz Can, Head of the Department of Energy Efficiency and Environment, underlined that it is important for the sector to establish an auto control on quality, standard and certification issues in order to walk confidently along a path. Mehmet Bozdemir, General Manager of Industrial Products Safety and Inspection, said, "We want to shape the 2020 audit and surveillance plan according to the sector."
12. National Lighting Congress was organized with the main theme of "Qualified Lighting in Turkey".
IstanbulLight hosted the 12th Annual Meeting under the leadership of ATMK with the main theme of "Qualified Lighting in Turkey" in cooperation with OSCE and Informa Markets. National Lighting Congress was held. In the Congress, where the subject of Qualified Lighting is discussed in a wide range from "Design", "Training and Human Resources in Lighting", from "Production Designed at World Standards" to "Sales and Consumer Awareness in Lighting"; Approximately 80 speakers, 4 of whom were invited experts in their fields, 5 sessions, 20 presentation papers, 12 presentation poster presentations, special topics and panels took place.

IstanbulLight fair organized within the scope of the 3. World-famous lighting designers such as British designers Jason Bruges and Liz West were hosted at the Lighting Design Summit. To the Summit held at Istanbul Expo Center; Lighting designers and professionals from companies such as Jason Bruges Studio, Liz West Studio, ONOFF Lighting, LAB.1, Arup, ZKLD Light Studio, Sevenlights, Planlux, NA Light Style, SLD Studio, Dark Source, The Lighting Institute and August Technology participated as speakers. At the event, the latest trends in lighting design, inspiring projects and new approaches to design were discussed.


Lighting waste was recycled to contribute to the education of children with autism.
With the cooperation of AGİD, Informa Markets and Tohum Autism Foundation social responsibility, a waste collection area was created at IstanbulLight Fair in order to recycle electrical and electronic device wastes, especially lighting. Exhibitors and visitors delivered their waste to this area, contributing to the collection of a total of 637 kg of waste. With this campaign, fair participants and visitors were able to; they had the chance to contribute to the protection of the environment and human health as well as to the education of children with autism.
