FIBA Group reaches 550 MW of power with the investment of 4 new wind power plants, becoming one of the largest in the sector

FIBA Group; 4 new wind power plants established in Van, Balıkesir, Yalova and Istanbul Çatalca with a total investment of 220 million dollars started production. With 4 new WPPs with a total installed capacity of 200 MW, the Group's installed capacity has increased to 550 MW in wind energy and 580 MW in renewable energy, making the Group one of the largest in the sector. Founded by FIBA Group in Van; With a capacity of 53.2 MW, the power plant is located in Turkey's highest altitude and easternmost wind power plant. With its new investments, FIBA Group will make carbon reductions equivalent to 563 thousand hectares of forest annually. Emphasizing that they have analyzed Turkey's wind map very well and made the largest investment in the wind energy potential of Eastern Anatolia with the power plant in Van, Murat Özyeğin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of FIBA Group, said, "We see these 4 projects, which contribute to the energy supply security of our country, as part of the positive developments that have recently reduced our dependence on foreign energy sources."

FIBA Group has added 4 new wind power plants (RES) to its investments in the renewable energy sector. New RESs established in Van, Balıkesir, Yalova and Istanbul Çatalca started production. With the new investment, the total capacity of FIBA Group in wind energy will increase to 550 MW. The 4 new wind power plants, consisting of a total of 55 turbines, will reach 200 MW of power when they start operating at full capacity in 2021.

Founded by FIBA Group in Van; The power plant, which will have a power of 53.2 MW, is the highest altitude and easternmost wind power plant in Turkey.

"We have made the biggest investment in the wind energy potential of Eastern Anatolia"

Emphasizing that they have analyzed Turkey's wind map very well and made the largest investment to date in the wind energy potential of Eastern Anatolia with the power plant they established in Van with an investment of 55 million dollars, Murat Özyeğin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of FIBA Group , said:

"We see these 4 projects, which have been implemented with a total investment of 220 million dollars and contribute to the energy supply security of our country, as a part of the positive developments that have reduced our dependence on foreign energy in the recent period. Our RES investments are carried out by our group company in the energy sector, Fina Enerji. Our priority is to focus on renewable energy projects and to lead the sector in this field. One of the biggest advantages of renewable energy is that it allows our country to benefit from its vast wind and solar potential. With the goal of becoming one of the largest wind energy producers in Turkey, we will continue to produce our country's energy from renewable sources."

"We installed Turkey's easternmost, highest WPP in Van"

Stating that they plan to put the Bağlama RES in Van into operation at full capacity by mid-2021, Fina Energy General Manager Koray TKımaz said:

"We made a very bold investment decision when we started the Bağlama WPP project. We installed Turkey's easternmost and highest WPP in Van. Binding RES; With an installed capacity of 53.2 MW, it will be the highest capacity wind energy project in Eastern Anatolia. We are happy to have commissioned all our projects with a selfless work without failing even one day from our target date."

Carbon reduction equivalent to 563,000 hectares of forest

Özyeğin stated that four projects commissioned at the same time will make a great contribution to carbon reduction and said:

"To date, our group has 10 wind power plants with a total installed capacity of 350 MW and 5 solar power plants with an installed capacity of 30 MW. With our new 4 wind power plants with a total power of over 200 MW, we will increase our installed power to 550 MW in wind energy and 580 MW in renewable energy. To date, we have reduced 685,000 tons of carbon every year with 154 turbines. When our new wind power plants are operating at full capacity, our carbon reduction will increase to a total of 1 million 65 thousand tons per year. This will correspond to the carbon reduction performance of 563,000 hectares of forest land."

When the projects of FIBA Group operate at full capacity, Bağlama WPP in Van will have an installed capacity of 53.2 MW, Pazarköy WPP in Balıkesir will have an installed capacity of 45.6 MW, Yalova WPP will have 53.2 MW and Tayakadin WPP in Istanbul will have an installed capacity of 51 MW.
