We had an interview with Coşkun İstemihan, General Manager of COŞKUN COPPERALLOYS COPPER ALLOYS, about the company and its activities.

Could you briefly tell us about yourself for our readers?

I was born in Malatya in 1965, completed my primary and secondary education in Istanbul and completed my higher education in Germany. After returning to Turkey in 1988, I worked as a sales and marketing director in corporate companies in the Copper and Copper Alloys sector. I have been operating in this sector with manager and consultancy services for about 30 years. As a result of all these savings, I established Coşkun Copperalloys Copper Alloys company in the middle of 2021.

What should be understood in our sector when it comes to copper, what should be considered?

Copper, which is one of the most valuable metals, is alloyed with many metals and has the opportunity to be used in very large areas. It is used in the defense industry, electrical-electronics, automotive, textile, construction sector, coins and even in kitchens in our homes.

The quality of copper varies according to sectors. For example, flat copper products used in the industrial sector (such as electrical and electronics) must be produced from 99,99% pure copper. The coppers used in the cable industry, transformer sector and panel industry must be produced entirely from pure copper.

Issues to be considered; It varies according to the sector, product and purpose of use. For example; If it is to be used in the electrical-electronics sector, the issue of conductivity should be given importance. If the copper used in these sectors is not at the desired standards, it cannot withstand the power of the current due to its low conductivity and heats up. It can cause fires that endanger the safety of life and property due to heating and even explosions in panels and transformers.

As Coşkun Copperalloys Copper Alloys, what are your activities, products and product groups?

First of all, I would like to state that; The copper and copper products of the company I represent are completely produced from 99.99% pure cathode copper. Coskun Copperalloys Copper Alloys is engaged in import and export with 30 years of experience. We supply products and raw materials to our manufacturers with high ability to represent the sector and the country.

Our product groups; CuETP Copper coil, Foil, Strip, Copper Alloy CuDHP Copper roll strip, CuZn10, CuZn15, CuZn30, CuZn33, CuZn36-37 Brass rolls and strips, but we import and export these products to provide raw material products to our manufacturers, suppliers.

Could you tell us about your structuring in Turkey as the Turkey Representative of an International Company?

Copper and Copper products are completely produced from 99.99% pure cathode copper. Our customers can use the copper and copper alloy products they receive from us in their production without hesitation in quality. In addition, the supply of this purity will be reflected in the product produced and will increase the quality of the product. We continue our activities in Ankara, and we plan to open a branch in Istanbul next year in order to reach and serve our industrialists faster.

Are there any difficulties in product supply due to the impact of the pandemic? How long and under what conditions your customers supply the product in the amount they demand. Can you tell us about your working conditions?

During the pandemic period, we did not have any difficulty in supplying products. During the pandemic, we have worked by taking our precautions in advance and keeping a safety stock. We have difficulty in finding logistics vehicles. This is reflected in freight prices. The freight fee that was given last year is now doubled. When freight prices increase, this is directly reflected in costs.

Our customers receive the products they request within 30 to 45 days. We receive orders by the 15th of each month and deliver every order we receive to the factory instantly. We have it produced quickly.

Initially, we were able to appeal to our customers who ordered 20 tons and more. However, over time, when the demands from small-scale companies increased, we started to receive partial orders. We currently receive at least one vehicle partial loading order each month.

What are the features that distinguish your company from its competitors?

Our biggest feature is our quality policy because our customers know how sensitive our Coşkun Copperalloys Copper Alloys company is about quality. We serve the product to be supplied without sacrificing quality, at an affordable price that will reduce costs and by delivering it quickly on time. We can currently deliver your orders between 30-45 days. We are working in coordination with production planning to further reduce this period.

Can you give information about your market share and position in the sector?

The share and position of our company and Coşkun Copperalloys Copper Alloys brand in the sector exceeded our expectations in a short time. In the first period we established our company, we made sales 80% above the targets we set. Studies show that 2022 will be even more productive. By maintaining the belief and trust of our customers in us, we will achieve much better successes together without disturbing our product quality and service quality.

What are your short and long-term goals?

As Coşkun Copperalloys Copper Alloys, our goal is; To deliver CuETP and CuSn0,1,CuDHP Copper Alloy and CuZn10,CuZn30,CuZn36-37 Copper Alloy brass products to our customers on time without sacrificing quality. To export to European countries and Middle East and African countries in 2022.

What would you like to say to the sector companies?

The negative effects of the pandemic are going through a troubled process not only in our country, but all over the world. The continuous movement of copper and other precious metals in the metal exchange and the exchange rate movement in the currency adversely affect the market. But we believe that by being tolerant together, we will overcome these processes without thinking unilaterally and without opportunism.
