Prysmian Group, the worldwide leader in the cable industry, introduced its newly developed Draka IP MediaLine Fiber in accordance with the SMPTE ST 2110 standard for the first time at IBC, the International Broadcasting, Display and Television Technology Exhibition held in the Netherlands. Prysmian Group's new fiber optic cables, with their high bandwidth and hard-to-withstand structure, have the features to meet the demands and expectations of cinema and television productions that require high performance.
Prysmian Group participated in IBC, the International Exhibition of Broadcasting, Image and Television Technologies, held in the Netherlands and Amsterdam. Prysmian Group, which introduced its state-of-the-art fiber optic cables at IBC, one of the most prestigious fairs in the broadcasting world with approximately 1700 exhibitors and over 60 thousand international visitors, presented its latest innovations to the publishing world. Prysmian's new generation cables; 2- 24 fiber, non-metal, gel-filled fiber optic central tube cables for indoor broadcast applications; for outdoor mobile applications, it consists of fiber optic cables with patented BendBright® technology.
Marc-Oliver Hentschel, Senior Engineer and Product Manager Studio Broadcasting, Prysmian Group Multimedia Solutions Business Line, said the following about the new product: "Broadcast technology is getting closer to fiber optics a little bit more every day. Compared to traditional copper cables, fiber optic cables provide higher bandwidth and less loss in data transfer. We are extremely proud to present the new IP MediaLine Fiber, which we have designed for high-speed data transfer between IP networks, to a large group of experts for the first time at IBC 2019."
Resistant to fire, rodents, and the bending performance is higher and faster!
The new product group consists of a central tube cable containing 2-24 fibers. With its FireRes® outer casing, these non-metallic, gel-filled cables offer an ideal solution for indoor applications. CPR Cca rated cables have insulating glass thread armor and high water resistance for rodent resistance, and also stand out for their high degree of flame retardant performance. MFC OS2 fiber optic cables made for mobile use, which are among the new IP MediaLine Fiber cable types, are equipped with 9/125 SM fiber features as well as patented BendBright® technology. This technology both improves the performance of the cables and provides greater resistance to bending. BendBright® technology; low macro-bending accuracy makes a difference with Draka ColorlockXS technology. This technology provides the ideal fiber for all connection applications, contributing to companies in terms of measurable technical, economic and environmental benefits.
The flexibility that comes with an uncompressed format
The new Draka fiber optic cables are manufactured in accordance with the SMPTE 2110 standard, which defines the transfer of digital video signals (video streaming) in real time over an IP network. Unlike previous IP video standards, the transmission is carried out in uncompressed format. Each data set (video, audio and additional data) can be synchronized without affecting each other. This allows the data to be routed and edited separately to be associated with data sets, including metadata (timecodes, subtitles and teletext).
