The 'dam' course of the Stars of Energy was Akköy II HEPP

• ÇEDAŞ; Sivas Atatürk Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School Electrical-Electronics Technologies Area High Voltage Branch students were told about the return of water power to electricity at Akköy II HEPP and Doğankent HEPP established in Gümüşhane. 16 students who received training within the framework of the Stars of Energy Project learned how to convert flowing water into electrical energy at the dam with all its stages.
• Akköy II HEPP, which students show great interest in, ranks first in Turkey with a fall height of 1,224 m and is among the top 10 in the world. ÇEDAŞ General Manager Niyazi Kıvılcım, who accompanied the students on the trip, said, "We are very happy to transfer our knowledge to our young people who will be our colleagues in the future."

Çamlıbel Elektrik Dağıtım A.Ş., which undertook the Sivas, Tokat and Yozgat legs of the 'Stars of Energy' Project initiated by Cengiz and Koloğlu Holding to support the need for trained personnel in the electricity distribution sector. (ÇEDAŞ) supports the education of students with 'field' lessons. ÇEDAŞ, who organized a technical trip to Gümüşhane Akköy II Hydroelectric Power Plant and Giresun Doğankent Hydroelectric Power Plant for 16 students studying at Sivas Atatürk Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School Electrical-Electronics Technologies High Voltage Branch, explained the stages of converting the power of flowing water into electricity.

Following the 'Vocational Training Protocol' signed with the Ministry of National Education (MEB) General Directorate of Vocational and Technical Education in 2018, the Energy Stars Project, which was realized with the establishment of a 'High Voltage Branch' department and High Voltage Laboratory in 3 vocational high schools determined in Istanbul, Sivas and Antalya in the first stage, entered its second year. In the 2019-2020 Academic Year, students showed great interest in Sivas Atatürk Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School Electrical-Electronics Technologies High Voltage Department.

FIRST IN TURKEY WITH ITS LOW HEIGHT

While theoretical courses on the energy market and electricity distribution service as well as practical courses continued in the said school, ÇEDAŞ took 16 students who received training in the High Voltage Branch, together with 2 teachers and school director Cemal Dalcı, to Akköy II Hydroelectric Power Plant in Gümüşhane, a subsidiary of Koloğlu Holding, and Doğankent Hydroelectric Power Plant in Giresun. During the technical tour attended by ÇEDAŞ General Manager Niyazi Kıvılcım and OHS Manager Fatih Ergüt, the students were told about the hydroelectric power plant, its operation and how the power of water is converted into electricity.

ÇEDAŞ General Manager Niyazi Kıvılcım, who deals with the students one-on-one, said, "As we always underline, our goal is; To be the company that provides the best quality and best service in the electricity distribution sector. While moving forward with this goal, we are also aware of our responsibilities to our country. With this awareness, we have taken a very valuable step in order to produce solutions to the need for qualified personnel, which is one of the biggest problems of the sector, and to transfer our knowledge to our young people who will be our colleagues in the future. In our project, which will provide trained personnel to the energy sector, we explain to our students who have chosen the High Voltage Branch both theoretically and practically on topics such as network maintenance, material training, overhead line application, occupational health and safety, lighting, lost leakage, customer operations, meter and measurement training, especially in the Electricity Market course. This year, we all came to Akköy together to better understand how the hydroelectric power plant works. Here, for the first time, students learned by seeing the return of water to electricity."

Pointing out that the technical trip organized by ÇEDAŞ was very productive, Sivas Atatürk Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School Director Cemal Dalcı said, "A technical trip was organized by Çamlıbel Electricity Distribution with our students who are in the 12th grade. On this trip, our children saw live how electricity production is. I believe that the horizons of our students are opened with this trip. Our students saw how important the work they do or will do is, through which stages the electricity used by people in their homes is produced, how modern facilities and the operations of these facilities are carried out. I am happy that they gained experience on behalf of my students."

The students, who visited a hydroelectric power plant for the first time, stated that the trip was very useful for them and that they were happy to have the opportunity to see the electricity production on site.

Akköy II HEPP, which students show great interest in, ranks first in Turkey with a fall height of 1,224 m and is among the top 10 in the world. The plant, one unit of which went into production on June 7, 2010 and one unit on July 5, 2012, has a structure that is operated by two 116.79 MW vertical axis Pelton type turbines and completed with two synchronous generators with a power of 135 MVA.
