Millions of consumers will be able to use electricity cheaper

The Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) has announced the free consumer limits for 2020. For 2019, the limit of 94 TL has been reduced to 80 TL. Thus, close to 25 million consumers will be able to save money by changing their electricity suppliers. The Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) has lowered the free consumer limits. Free Consumer refers to consumers who have the right to change their electricity supplier as if they were carrying their mobile phone number.With the application known as the free consumer application, everyone who consumes electricity within the limits determined by EMRA has the right to change the electricity supplier and use cheap electricity.

According to the decision, the limit, which was 94 TL on average in 2019, was reduced to 80 TL as of 2020. Thus, nearly 25 million electricity consumers who pay monthly electricity bills of 80 TL or more will be able to change suppliers and save. Electricity tariffs comparison site EnCazip has compiled what consumers should pay attention to when choosing suppliers and their rights. With the new regulations, suppliers cannot change the tariff conditions without pre-empting consumers, cannot stop the service to consumers for no reason, cannot extend the contract without re-approval, and cannot receive a higher penalty fee than the discount provided. In addition, it is now possible to change suppliers over the phone or internet.
