SEDAŞ, which has reduced the rate of illegal electricity use with its studies, continues to implement its projects in 2019 in order to detect and eliminate the use of illegal electricity as well as achieving its targets in 2018. SEDAŞ, which ensures the implementation of the laws by preventing the illegal use of electricity with its works in the field, has taken actions to prevent accidents that may occur from the devices prepared for illegal electricity thanks to its fight against illegal electricity. SEDAŞ teams carry out leak monitoring, continuous field inspections, detect illegal electricity usages and eliminate situations that pose a risk to life. SEDAŞ also conducts meter consumption records and subscription-free usage data analyses. SEDAŞ takes action to initiate legal proceedings by recording electricity uses without subscribing, connections made without passing through the measurement circuit, interventions in the measurement circuit and / or meters.

Pointing out that the use of illegal electricity harms the country's economy, SEDAŞ Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Necmi Odyakmaz underlined that this situation is important in terms of energy efficiency, quality electricity use, as well as the safety of life and property. He stated that the electricity distribution network was established according to the number of subscribers in the relevant region, and that the use of illegal electricity increased the load on the network, causing negativities such as power cuts and voltage drops, and that energy adversely affected the technical quality. SEDAŞ Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Necmi Odyakmaz said, "We detect that illegal electricity is used in places such as tents and construction sites, especially in rural areas, where seasonal workers are housed during hazelnut time. In such places, there is an electrical leak because the installation structure does not comply with the technical specifications and standards. Therefore, there may be a risk of being caught in the electric current or the safety of people and animals, as well as material damage and fire."  Said.
